Teaching in schools

Most of the players representing Australia learnt bridge in their teens or at a younger age. Bridge NSW recognises that revitalising the playing of bridge in this age group is important to the future of bridge.

While the strategy to be applied across the state is being developed, bridge clubs or players may wish to approach local schools to teach bridge to their students. Any player or club interested in doing so can request a letter of support by contacting the office at office@bridgensw.com.au.

Many Australian authors (including Paul Marston, Derrick Browne, Joan Butts) have written texts suitable for youth beginners. The European Bridge Union publication The Recuit may be another useful resource. Also see resources on the Self-guided learning and Lesson materials sections of this website.

People who wish to work with children on a voluntary basis need  a “Working with Children Check” available on the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian Website.
