Monday leagues begin tonight

April 7, 2025

A total of 22 teams registered for the first ever Online Teams League (OTL) including a number of youth players in Divisions 2 and 3, and international and Australian representatives in Division 1.

The Online Pairs League (OPL) has 74 pairs playing, and a 5th division for the first time! With Bridge Victoria partnering the event for the first time, a number of Victorian players are in the mix.

You can track the results for each league here:

OPL: https://nsw.bridgeaustralia.org/resultslistbyheadevent…

Good luck to all involved!

If you missed out this time, both Monday leagues will be running again in Winter.

OTL and OPL explained

If you are not familiar with OTL, it involves a 24-board match in a team format every Monday night played online with RealBridge. Matches begin 7pm and finish by 9:30pm. The season goes for seven weeks and is paused for any national gold point events.

OPL is also played on Monday nights but features 12-board matches in a pairs format across eight weeks and a lighter 7:30pm-9pm playing time.

In both leagues, players are allocated into divisions based on ability. This means you compete against players or teams of similar skill – great for advancing your bridge game.

Anyone with an ABF number can enter the OTL and OPL, including interstate and overseas players.

A word on fees

An OTL team can comprise 4-8 players, and substitutions are allowed. The entry fee is $560 per team. In a special introductory offer, each Bridge NSW-affiliated club can receive a full refund for one team, provided the team’s players are from that club and the team completes the season.

To claim the free entry offer, players must enter and pay, and then the club or player needs to contact Tournament Organiser Alan Bustany (alan.bustany@gmail.com) to confirm the offer is being taken up. At the completion of the season, the club will be reimbursed the team fee.

OPL fees are the same as they were for the Summer season. The entry fee is $50 per player for the full eight weeks. Youth players can enter for $25. Players with fewer than 100 masterpoints get a MyABF credit, which makes their fee $25 per player. Players with fewer than 300 masterpoints will get a MyABF refund of 10 credits.
